Abortion is viewed by many as the woman's right or choice since it is her body that is involved in the abortion. There are many others who believe it is committing murder when a woman gets an abortion.
The woman's body should be private and what she does with it is her business and hers alone. (what she does to her body is between her and God only). However, when she becomes pregnant she is also making decisions for another individual so she should make decisions to insure that the baby is safe from harm. Abortion is the same thing as murdering a tiny individual and people should be held accountable for it. There are so many birth control options it just doesn't make any sense why anyone should get pregnant if they do not want to have a baby. If this was back one hundred years ago it might make sense because the birth control methods were not available then but today there should be no excuse and therefore no reason for unwanted pregnancies. Girls and women need to wake up and either keep their clothes on, or use some form of birth control to prevent pregnancy and there will be no need to murder those little babies.
I also want to add that if a woman or young girl does get pregnant, another option is to give the baby away when it is born if you don't want it. Don't kill it. That baby did not ask to be alive but since it is, it deserves to have the same chance in life that we all do. There are many people who can not have kids and desperately want one. Put the baby up for adoption, do not murder it.

Im sorry, I have to disagree. Just saying "get on birth control so you dont get pregnant" doesnt make it so. Many women get pregnant while using birth control. Even when the woman has the best of intentions, it happens.
When a woman is raped, should she be forced to bear the result of that rape should she get pregnant? I know, I know, your answer to that is probably adoption but youre not the one who would have to carry that baby to term.
Certainly if you havent been in these situations, you shouldnt judge others for their choices. Your answer isnt right for all. And if you have been in these situations, I feel sorry for you that youre so close minded.

The law is not God and God says it is wrong. As far as birth control not working, there is also other methods which can also be used at the same time. That is just an excuse. If one doesn't want to get pregnant, there are many options.
As far as rape victims, that is a different story and there are always an exception to every rule but it doesn't make it right in God's law. I do sympathize with those women who are raped. They have to live with that fear for the rest of their lives. It isn't the baby's fault, why should it be punished by death? I am sorry but I also disagree with you. Everyone is entitled to his/her own opinion but right is right no matter what we think.
Not everyone believes in your god. And yea, you can try all you want and still, birth control may not work. Your answer isnt a cure-all for unwanted pregnancies. Please.
You say "right is right", I take that to mean abortion is wrong. Just because you believe it does not make it "right." You can fight that fight for the rest of your life, you wont win.
Yes, I agree that adoption is a better option but its not always the most available option. The circumstances vary. I wish more people like you would realize this.
For most women, when they choose abortion, they dont think "yes! Im getting away with murder! woohoo!" No. Far from it. Theyre sad, confused and hopelessly unsure. Its definitely not something she WANTS to do. Think about it. Have you ever been in that situation? I dont expect you to answer that obviously, just think about it.

I have to say, this choice business has gotten way out of hand. Whether you believe in a god or not, what gives any one the right to decide if a child lives or dies? And please don’t give me that “it’s just tissue” crap! Have you seen an ultrasound?
Are you for or against the death penalty? I mean, doesn’t a jury have the right to choose whether a convicted killer has the right to live or die? At least in this case the accused actually did something worthy of death. What did that poor little unborn child do?
As far as rape is concerned, having been very close to a victim of rape I can tell you that she is so thankful she did not decide to butcher her precious child while it was in her womb. The horrific memories of the rape would have been doubled by the terrible decision to commit murder.
Call it a “choice” all you like. I know that helps de-humanize the child growing inside. But it is murder and it is one of the most selfish acts a woman can commit.
You can go ahead and automatically disqualified my views on this issue because I am a man, but you cannot deny that deep down you know it is murder.
I have been raped, but did not get pregnant as a result of it. That baby should have just as much of a chance as you or I. You need to think about it. You would not have existed if your mother had decided to get an abortion. Why shouldn't every baby get at least a fighting chance? It seems that in these cases, the woman is thinking more about herself and not the baby. In my mind you are not going to win bettegurl because like I said before, it IS murder and the one who gets the abortion gets what they deserve as far as guilt, sadness, etc. They had a choice, the baby didn't.
My friend was drugged and date raped. It was while we were in college and for the longest time she would not reveal the guy who did it. She knew my friends and I would go after him so she stayed quiet.
She put the baby up for adoption, and though she regretted the adoption a little, when she saw how thrilled the couple who adopted her baby were it really helped her feel good about it. And she was very thankful to have avoided the alternative- murder (abortion).
Audacious- First of all, I would never discount your opinion just because you are a man. Makes no difference to me. And yes, I have seen many ultrasounds, Ive had 2 children. Whats an ultrasound got to do with anything? It should be the woman's choice, not the governments. Its not the govt's body, nor their life. While I dont agree with woman using abortion as a birth control method (as some do) I do agree with it being used when absolutely necessary.
As bjjp said, if you dont want to get pregnant, you can prevent it. That is the most ridiculous comment I have heard all month. Sure, they SAY BC pills are 99% effective if taken correctly but with myself (and many friends and family members) just happening to be that 1%, I dont buy it. And I suppose if I used your logic, everytime I felt like having sex I would need to a)use a condom b)add spermicide c)have an IUD d)be on the pill e)get the depo shot f)use all the other BC methods out there all at once.
A friend of mine had her tubes tied, pretty safe there right? Wrong, she had two more kids afterward. So, while she was CLEARLY doing everything possible to not get pregnant, in your eyes it would be wrong for her to not have that baby.
Thank god I had my tubes tied and a hysterectomy later because if I got pregnant and chose to have an abortion I would have to deal with fanatics like you outside of the clinic.
It amazes me how seriously close minded people can be.
But I can talk til Im blue in the face and people like you will never understand someone else's point of view so why bother?
Murder is murder, no matter how you label it.
