Who is a better candidate for the presidential election of 2008?
55It is my humble opinion that we are headed for doom if Barrack is voted for president. I also think that Hillary got a bum rap from the beginning of her campaign. No other presidential candidate has ever been harrassed and made fun of like she has. She has been under the gun from the beginning and it is my opinion that it is of the male persuasion that has caused the trouble.
Hillary Clinton was born in the United States and is a true American. There has been a lot of speculation and information floating around the internet that is warning people against voting for Barrack Obama.
The new world order is closely related to what is going on today with the election and if we get the wrong person in office, we are doomed. I feel that Obama will destroy our country even more. Bush has already done a lot of damage and it is not known if we will ever survive it now if the price of gas continues to go up and there is no cap put on it. I received an email a few days ago telling me thatAmerican oil is coming from Phillips 66, Wal-Mart, and a few others. We should not buy oil from Shell or EXxon because they are the two largest oil companies from which we get the oil from overseas. What is the problem with opening up some of the oil wells we already have or drilling more? It has been said that we have enough oil to supply the United States so why not?
Another problem I have with the price of oil is the fact that the oil in our own country is costing us the same (maybe a few cents less in some cases) as the oil that is imported. Why? It doesn't cost as much for shipping it or delivering it so it should be much cheaper than imported oil. If we could use more of our own oil, the imported oil companies may be forced to lower their prices. The idea that people are driving more is a bunch of hooey! Most people are not going any more than they did before, that was just an excuse and the blame should be put where it belongs.
If Obama is elected, the oil situation will not get any better. I pray it doesn't get worse but I have a gut feeling that it will get much worse. I don't trust the man, he seems too fake to me. Just like the feeling I had for Bush in the beginning and look where he got us.

It has been on the news repeatedly that there is oil but the government refuses to let new wells be drilled and that there is enough to supply this country substantially without the help of foreign oil. The press states that a shortage is only an excuse to jack up the prices. I honestly believe the government (or major oil companies) has been lying to us all along.
Of course this is only my opinion based on what I have read and heard and that's my story and I'm sticking to it! LOL!
There is some oil in the U.S., yes. The government has refused to allow new wells to be drilled in Alaska because the environmentalists scream bloody murder whenever somebody suggests it. In the 1990s, when suggestions were made to open Hudson Bay and the North Slope, the Democratic Congress refused to allow the drilling to occur because of the environmental risk and, as they said, it would be ten years before the drilling produced usable oil. Of course, if we had started drilling in the 1990s, that was ten years ago, wasn't it?
Check Wikipedia under oil reserves (U.S.). Specific details are given there.
Many of the press, in my not-so-humble opinion, are idiots.
It wasn't just in Alaska that I read and heard about. Maybe some press are idiots but they are also supposed to check out a story before they print it so they have their facts straight. Some of it has to be true. Wickipedia has a lot of very good information but it is just written by ordinary individuals and can be edited by anyone. Of course they try to get as near to the true facts as they can.
I've been writing professionally for almost 30 years now. I know how they check their facts. My not-so-humble opinion remains unchanged, based upon personal experience.
The people who write Wikipedia are specialists in their fields, meaning they will know more about the subject than the press. U.S. oil reserves peaked in the 1970s and have been going down ever since. Without foreign oil, we can remain running for about three years.

The problem with opening our own wells or drilling more is that oil is a nonrenewable energy source, meaning that we're running out of it. Many of the wells in the oil-producing states, such as Texas, and in the shallow waters of the Gulf of Mexico, are played out, and there's not a lot left there. Yes, we can reach oil in the deeper sections of the Gulf of Mexico, in geologically strange places, or in Alaska--but we're going to pay more for reaching it and yanking it out of the ground. Until the price of oil goes even higher, above a certain point, it's not economically feasible to bother.
Alberta, Canada has the largest reserves of oil in the world outside of the Middle East. But it's not in the ground; it permeates the topsoil layer. The area is being strip mined, then the oil is separated from the sand prior to refining. It's high grade stuff, but this production is in its infancy and will take time to produce enough to undercut the Middle East, say around twenty years.
In Alaska, there are environmental concerns. Yes, there's a lot of crude there, but unless permission is granted to start drilling, we'll never benefit from it. And even then, it will be another ten years before we see any gas made from that oil.
And even if we can reach these reserves of oil, not all of it is suitable for making gasoline. A lot of U.S. crude oil contains sulphur, which either must be expensively treated before being turned into gas, or else must be used for other purposes, such as powering electricity plants or being turned into lubricating oil.
Whoever said there was enough crude oil in the U.S. to run the country must have either meant tapping into the protected reserves of Alaska, into deep waters where it's more expensive, or they didn't know what they were talking about. Our proven reserves would only last about three years without imported oil.
